This is a safe and simple process. For full instructions go to the One Publisher Manual Personalised Books and ProductsYour One Published Book is fully personalised to include your own pictures and captions within the context of our professionally published designs. Once you have made your book, completed payment and uploaded your album, One Published prints your book as a unique product. It is then finished and bound to the highest standards, safely boxed in protective packaging and despatched to your door where it will be delivered on a signed-for basis Your digital pictures and images Suitable ImagesYou should be able to use almost any image taken on a modern digital camera or scanned on a desk-top scanner as long as the images are saved as jpegs (This is usually the default setting on most devices, but by consulting the devices instruction manual you should be able to save images as jpegs). Rejected ImagesThe only restriction on jpeg images is that they must be made up of a sufficient number of pixels to enable us to print a satisfactory reproduction of your original image. If an image is of too low a quality, it will be rejected by the One Publisher book making software, to ensure that your finished book looks as good as possible. Poor Quality ImagesOur software cannot make a poorly focused or exposed image look better than the original, and sometimes by zooming in too close on an image, such short-comings can be exacerbated. Reproducing Old PhotographsOld photographs can be easily scanned using desk-top scanners. Modern devices are able to save these images as jpegs which can then be loaded into your book. Attention should be given to ensure that the resolution selected when scanning and saving an image produces sufficient pixels (the dots that make up the image) to make it acceptable for our book making software. A minimum of 150 dpi (dots per inch) is required. One Publisher User ManualIn order to make one of our books or products the first step is to download our easy-to-use One Publisher software onto your PC or Mac. It has been verified as being totally safe and secure by Thawte. Instructions for Download are shown below in the Download section. Online Working and your imagesOur One Publisher Software has been designed to be simple and fun to use. There, are however, three fundamental features that you need to aware of:
Before you can download our One Publisher and start making a book, you must register so that when you download our One Publisher software and any of our products, they can be continually updated with the latest version. DownloadOnce you have selected a product, you must then download our easy-to-use One Publisher software. It is a Java application that can run on PC, Mac or Linux. Minimum requirements are as follows:
Note that some browsers will block downloads until you authorise them. If you see the Information Bar appear when you are trying to download the One Publisher then click on the Information Bar and select 'Download File...'.
Once you click the Download Button you will be shown a Trust Certificate from Thawte which you should accept by clicking Run. This allows our software to be downloaded onto your machine.
A Progress Bar will then indicate that the One Publisher Software is downloading
You will be asked to accept a short-cut for the One Publisher on your Desktop. Please select 'Yes' otherwise the software will not function. Unlike many applications, ours is written in Java in order to run on many different kinds of machine. As a consequence we cannot automatically deliver it into your list of programs once downloaded. By clicking Yes to the short-cut, this ensures that the application is stored in an accessible manner on your machine, otherwise it may prove very difficult to find the application once installed and we cannot guarantee that it will run properly.
Once the Software is downloaded the application will begin to open. At this point you will be presented with a Trust Certificate, verified by Thawte, which you should accept in order to run our One Publisher software. If you click the always trust box you will not see this box each time you log-in. Log-inNext a Log-in Screen will appear. Here you should enter your e-mail address and password you entered at Registration. If you have forgotten your password it will be on the email sent to you when you successfully registered, or you can click to have it sent to you again.
Your One Published Library
The next screen is your One Published Library. This is where any projects you work on are detailed in order to show your progress and for you to choose which one you may wish to work on at anytime.
To begin your first project you must enter a project name for your book and click open. At this point a progress bar will show you the actual book you have chosen downloading onto your machine.
Once loaded it will appear on your machine.
You can now begin to build your book! Add Images to your projectClick on a hole to add a picture. This will bring up the Select and Edit your picture Window. Here you can search your own directories to find your images, or connect to a CD or Digital Camera if you have them connected to your machine. Once you find the correct folder, click on it and thumbnail images of all available images in that folder will appear in the central panel
Either double-click to bring that image into the book, or click once to bring it into the editing panel on the right-hand panel. Here you can rotate, invert or change the image to black and white, before clicking the Save to Project button which will bring it into the book. If a chosen image is of insufficient quality for us to be able to print successfully, an error box will appear and your image will not be able to be saved to your project. Please choose a better quality image. Now you can zoom in or out on your image using the simple tools displayed under your image, and use your mouse to move the image around until you are satisfied. If you are not happy, simply click the waste bin icon and you can try another image.
Adding Captions to your Project
Click anywhere in the Click here to add caption box to open a window where you can start to add your own captions. If you are happy, click OK or click clear if you wish to start again. If you do not wish to make a caption you do not have to. The image will print with the correct background without a caption. (Please note any spelling or grammatical errors are unfortunately the responsibility of the user alone and not One Published)
Print Proofs
If at anytime you wish to proof your project on paper, rather than on screen, you can simply hit the Print Page Button on the left hand side in order to print a low-resolution sample page on your own printer for checking. This is strongly recommended. Navigating Pages within your projectOnce you have completed a page, simply click on another page at the top of the screen. At this point the small image of the page you have just been working on, will display any changes you have made. Saving your project.Every time you change to a new page your work is saved, even if you have a power failure. If, however, you wish to save your work while you are still on a page, simply hit the Save Button on the left at anytime. If you click the Save and Exit Button (or your normal close screen buttons top right hand corner of the screen) you will be returned to your Project Library Page. The Progress Column will show what % of image holes you have filled or whether you have 100% finished your project and your book is ready to be made. (This figure does not show if all your captions are complete as you are not required to always have a caption for every image)
Purchasing a Book
Only once you have completed a book can you make a purchase. Simply select the project and click the 'Buy Now' Button and you will be taken to a secure website for payment Have you checked your book?At this point you will be asked for a final time that you have checked your caption text and images as once you click OK your project will be in our system and cannot be changed.
Automated Album Checking
Before you get to the website our software will check your album to ensure that there are no technical problems with any of the images (eg. corrupt jpeg files etc). (This process will not check to see if the images are good from a subjective perspective - If images are blurry, out of focus, over or under exposed - then the user must decide whether to use them or not). This process also does not check for any spelling or grammatical errors in captions (this again is the responsibility of the user) Once checked you will be allowed to continue to make the purchase.
Uploading your project
Once you have made your purchase you will be asked to return to your One Publisher in order to upload your images. If you do not choose to upload now, you will be prompted to do so each subsequent occasion you return to your One Publisher Project Library until you do.
Uploading should take just a few minutes and a progress bar will show you its progress, and a new box to acknowledge its successful completion. Now you can simply wait for your book to be delivered to your door!
Creating different versions of the same Book
At anytime, either while making a book or after completion and purchase, different versions of the same project can be easily made for family of friends. Simply go to your Project Library page and select the project you wish to amend. Click copy and a new project will be opened which you can name and then amend to create a new version which you can complete and purchase in the same way as your original project. Multiple copies and Repeat OrdersMultiple copies can be purchased either during the transaction process or after a book had been purchased by going to My Account and order history and locating the project you wish to re-order. Ordering Order History and StatusGo to My Accounts to view your order history and current status. You will also be emailed once your projects have been successfully uploaded, and again when they have been despatched Order CancellationDue to the personal nature of One Published Products, orders cannot be cancelled once they have been uploaded and go into our production process Money Back GuaranteeMoney Back Guarantee - If the supplied book is substandard in quality or damaged One Published will refund your money including postage.
